Before asking "If you have nothing to hide, why refuse?" Read this. http://wreg.com/2013/01/03/mid-south-...

A challenge to anyone who thinks this is "bad advice." Find a law firm or defense attorney's website that advises you to consent to searches and answer questions. Just post the attorney's name or law firm in your comment.

What's in the brown bag?? http://youtu.be/2U1HtqTDDSY
If you post anything suggesting violence against police, your comment will be deleted. If you want to post something thinking you're cute about Super Troopers, you'll be deleted. Before you comment, I suggesting reading AZ v Gant. If you want to tell how the cops in your area are badass and this would never work with them, just save it, it'll be deleted.

I'd suggest reading Arizona v. Gant before making any comments.

**THIS IS NOT A VIDEO ON HOW TO BEAT A SPEEDING TICKET. IT IS HOW TO REFUSE A SEARCH.**
In this video reenactment, some college students are stopped by a police officer. The driver exercises his constitutional rights and goes on about his way.

Check out my other videos to see what could have happened if he waived his rights.

What advice would you give if the police officer was smart enough to suggest that he had detected the smell of cannabis coming from within the vehicle and intended conducting an emergent search of the vehicle for drugs (which would be lawful where I'm from)

I would say "Officer, there's no cannabis in my car and I DO NOT consent to a search. However, if you are going to search against my will, I will not resist you, but you DO NOT have my permission and you are not going to find anything." That's really all you can do if he lies and says he smells something.

And when the cop puts something in his pocket while you're sitting in the back of his police car, who replaces that? If you wait for them to bring dogs, then it's your own fault. You are under no obligation to sit and wait for them to try and find a K9 unit that can respond to a speeding ticket.

Don't say anything other than "I don't consent to a search."

There's tons of videos documenting the brutality and illegal detainments all over Youtube and the news. Reports of those same activites appear in papers all the time. I've known people that have had these problems.

Where else do you possibly want to hear it from? If it happens and isn't recorded or spoken about, of course you're not gonna hear about it.

you do not need to give consent if an officer detects illegal drugs. your rights are bypassed then.

well the only place I ever hear of it is in these videos. Now cops pulling someone over and getting shot in the face and then that person raping their family... That happens every day in every city on earth.

    XD

Either you're joking or you don't realize this video is fake.

I hope they are frustrated. This (hopefully) temporary solution to law enforcement by tricking people into giving up their rights is despicable.

Cop was just irritated by the man filming. And this is becoming more frequent with LEOs and lying to get people to willing give up rights. And according to the Supreme Court there is no probable cause so it then becomes a violation by LEOs who practice this.

Police Officer Truthfulness and the Brady Decision(Brady v. Maryland, 83 S. Ct. 1194 (1963). More recent:Haney v. City of Los Angeles, 109 Cal. App. 4th 1 (2003): In Lying - a lie as any intentionally deceptive stated message.

Lies Justified by police investigative Necessity: In the performance of their duties, police officers frequently engage in deceptive conduct essential to public safety. In this type of situation there is no reason for lying and can result in prosecution against the LEO.
